1、表示“遺憾”“抱歉”，是及物動(dòng)詞，不要按漢語(yǔ)意思在其后連用介詞about或for。如：
假若你現(xiàn)在就走，你會(huì)后悔的。
誤：If you go now, you will regret about [for] it.
正：If you go now, you will regret it.
2、表示很遺憾地做某事，其后要接不定式；能這樣用的不定式不多，主要是to say, to tell, to inform等，此時(shí)句子主語(yǔ)一般是第一人稱(chēng)，且regret通常用現(xiàn)在時(shí)。如：
I regret to say that you have failed your exam.我很遺憾地告訴你，你考試不及格。
We regret to inform you that we are unable to offer you the job.我們遺憾地通知你，我們沒(méi)法給你這份工作。
3、表示后悔或遺憾做過(guò)某事，其后通常接動(dòng)名詞，且動(dòng)名詞可用一般式或完成式。如：
He regretted doing [having done] it.他后悔做了此事。
