翻譯練習一：中國經(jīng)濟的發(fā)展
話題原文：
中國自20世紀70年代實行改革開放政策以來，經(jīng)濟一直以驚人的速度發(fā)展。糧食、肉類、鋼等工農(nóng)業(yè)產(chǎn)品的產(chǎn)量一直在顯著增長;原子能(atomic energy)、計算機技術(shù)、航空航天(aviation and aerospace)技術(shù)等方面也已經(jīng)達到世界先進水平。預計到21世紀中葉，中國將基本實現(xiàn)現(xiàn)代化，達到中等發(fā)達國家的.水平。目前，中國經(jīng)濟發(fā)展水平的地區(qū)差異較大，東部沿海地區(qū)比較發(fā)達，而西部地區(qū)相對不那么發(fā)達。中國正在進行西部大開發(fā)(Western Development Strategy)，以縮小各地區(qū)的經(jīng)濟發(fā)展差異。

Since China implemented the reform and opening-up policy in the 1970s, its economy has kept developing at a remarkably high speed. The output of the industrial and agricultural products, such as grain, meat and steel etc., has been growing markedly. And the technologies of atomic energy, computer, aviation and aerospace have reached the world advanced level. It is predicted that China will basically realize modernization and reach the level of the medium-developed countries by the middle of the 21st centuiy. Currently, China's economic level varies widely among regions. The areas along the east coast in China are fairly developed, while those in the west are comparatively underdeveloped. Due to this, China is carrying out the Western Development Strategy so as to narrow down the economic gaps between different regions.

翻譯練習二：環(huán)境與工業(yè)化
話題原文：
中國是發(fā)展中國家中的大國，其工業(yè)化正在快速發(fā)展，環(huán)境問題也變得日益嚴峻，因此環(huán)境保護被國家視為一項基本國策。近年來，國家采取了很多措施來加強環(huán)境治理，如建立了世界著名的生態(tài)工程“三北防護林工程”(the Three-NorthShelter Forest Program)。此外，中國也在大力發(fā)展自然保護區(qū)，頒布了《環(huán)境保護法》(The law on Environmental Protection)，加強環(huán)保意識和環(huán)保教育。目前，環(huán)境治理已取得明顯成效，大部分城市環(huán)境和農(nóng)業(yè)生態(tài)環(huán)境得到了很大改善，工業(yè)污染防治能力也大大提高。

China is a major developing country undergoing rapid industrialization. The environmental problem in China is getting more and more serious, thus environmental protection has been taken as one of the basic national policies by the government. In recent years, the government has taken lots of measures to improve the environment governance, such as carrying out the world famous ecological project "the Three-North Shelter Forest Program". Moreover, China has been greatly developing the natural reserves."The Law on Environmental Protection" has been issued to strengthen the awareness and education of environmental protection. Now, distinct achievements have been gained in environmental governance. The environment in most cities and the agricultural ecological environment around the country have been greatly improved. The capability of preventing and controlling industrial pollution has been highly enhanced.

話題原文：
中國的電影市場一直在髙速發(fā)展，但是國產(chǎn)的動畫業(yè)(animation industry)卻不盡如人意。去年有33部動畫電影發(fā)行，但沒有一部票房(box office)喜人。原因有以下幾點：一是投入少。一部好萊塢動畫電影在放映和電影特技上的花費要超過其一半的預算。但在中國，這些通常只占10%.二是故事情節(jié)單一。目前中國很難有超過1億票房的動畫電影。內(nèi)部人士稱電影情節(jié)無趣是票房過低的罪魁禍首。此外，薪酬較低，要找一個好編劇(scriptwriter)也很困難。

China's film market has been developing at a highspeed, but China's animation industry is not to oursatisfaction. Last year, 33 animation films werereleased, none of which did well at the box office. The reasons are as follows: firstly, the lowinvestment. A Hollywood animation film spends more than half of its budget on screening andspecial effects, which, however, in China, usually accounts for only 10%. Secondly, the tediousplot. Currently, few animation films in China can achieve more than 0.1 billion yuan at the boxoffice. According to the insiders, boring plot is the main reason for low box office.
